Putting Yourself Out There

Putting yourself out there by releasing your content into the world can possibly benefit others or even yourself. Proving others wrong, but showing them what you CAN do versus what you can’t do.

This is something we should all want to live for, not just proving that person wrong but proving yourself to be right. Showing how far you can go.

We may decide to forgo opportunities because we are scared of the unknown as well as the risks we will have to take to get there. I say, risk it. You won’t know what the outcome will be unless you take the first step into the unknown.

For instance, I decided to start this blog to put my own thoughts out there for you to read. I have kept asking myself along the way, will people like what they read? Should I even put myself out there and release my own thoughts to the world? Will I be judged? Will I not receive any response at all?

I realized that whether you like what I have to say or not, you are reading it. I feel proud of myself for putting my thoughts out there because it could possibly be helping someone in some way. The outcome has been rewarding so far.

Did you ever want to start a YouTube channel? Do it! See the outcome, if it's good that’s awesome! If it is not so great, at least you put yourself out there and tried rather than being in a position where you look back and say “I should’ve done that”. NO regrets here!

Have you ever thought about writing a book? Please do it! Start typing away and notice the stream of thoughts and ideas that flow through your mind as they come to life on paper. Our minds are so powerful, we are so lucky to have something that can attain knowledge and recall life events. Use your experiences, use your surroundings and imaginary thoughts to come up with an idea. Don’t worry about whether people will like it or not. IF you like it, and you agree that this piece of work is meant to be shown to the world, then show it. What’s the worst that can happen?

If you want to tell someone how you feel, do it. Whether their response is what you want to hear or not, won’t you feel better with the weight lifted off of your shoulders? Won’t you feel better knowing than not knowing?

Put yourself out there, as long as what you are doing is ethical and that no harm will come to others, of course.

Think of it this way, there are so many celebrities out there today that we look up to. Why? Because they put themselves out there, whether it is through music, acting, writing, painting, sculpting, etc. What if that artist you love never released his/her first album? That content that fuels so much emotion would be missing from the world today. But also remember, even if you love what they put out there, others may not. Even celebrities receive negative feedback towards their work, but they still put themselves out there.

Why? To prove the haters wrong, but most of all to make themselves better and to prove themselves right.

I'll use Eminem as an example. No one believed in him for many years, but he kept releasing his thoughts out into the world through his music. Look at him now! A guy who came from humble beginnings by starting out his music career in 8 mile to recording albums for the world to hear.

You will have people out there who will not like what you have to say as well as the content you would like to share. You will still have others who appreciate your content and the amount of time and effort you put into it. At the end of the day, it's those that will only matter.

As everyday people, we want to be validated in some form or another. I also feel the need to be validated at times. It isn’t easy receiving negative feedback, but as I have stated above, I have learned to use negative feedback as a motivation to move forward and continue to prove them wrong by making myself better.

Put yourself out there, you’ll never know if you will succeed or fail unless you try. Take that leap of faith into the unknown.

Until next time, Z
XOXO
